Lance called me and said he had an Eagle perched behind his Lanai. So, over I ran, and was able to get several images of him. Then one shot as he flew. Very lucky to get him in the frame.

This guy flew over and spooked all the Snow Geese. I was able to capture several frames as he flew very near us, straight overhead.

This is very similar to the Best of the Year Photo in National Geographic Photo Contest. That image was of a Grey Owl, and less grainy, but still…..I was shocked when I saw that one, as to how similar it was !

There are many many varieties of birds in and around Mediterra. Quite a few live here year round. The most common birds we see - or hear - are Mockingbird, Osprey, Mottled Duck, Cardinal, Blue Jay, Red Bellied Woodpecker, Pileated Woodpecker, Catbird, Grackle, Anhinga, Cormorant, Fish Crow, Belted Kingfisher, Bald Eagle, Eastern Bluebird, Great Crested Flycatcher, Blue Grey Gnatcatcher, Turkey Vulture, Black Vulture, Red Shouldered Hawk, Cooper’s Hawk, American Kestrel, Screech Owl, Great Horned Owl, Great Egret, Little Blue Heron, Great Blue Heron, TriColored Heron, Snowy Egret and Ruby Throated Hummingbird.
